Сегодня будем рассматривать сервис SafeUM, который предоставляет латвийские виртуальные номера, начинающиеся на +371 (это необходимо знать при выборе кода страны при регистрации в разных соцсетях и сервисах). Так как этот виртуальный номер, то его можно использовать не только для Вконтакте, но и для Телеграм, WhatsApp и прочего. Но… Этот номер будет работать только с теми сайтами и социальными сетями, где есть возможность диктовки проверочного кода по телефону (помимо отправки кода по СМС). К сожалению, в SafeUM (в целях безопасности) отсутствует СМС сервис.

Мы будем рассматривать приложение на примере Андроида.

Заходим в приложение и регистрируемся. Регистрация очень простая, придумываем логин, пароль, повторяем пароль, нажимаем "Отправить":

Затем нажимаем "Начать пользоваться":

И вот мы уже в приложении, заходим в настройки, там видим, что нам выдали номер. В нашем случае нам дали номер +37121723758:

Заходим на сайт ВК и регистрируемся. Придумываем Имя, Фамилию, Пол и нажимаем "Зарегистрироваться":

Вводим наш номер и нажимаем "Получить код":

Нам вышлют СМС. Но так как SafeUM не поддерживает СМС, то просто ждём, пока таймер ожидания СМС на сайте завершится и жмём "код не пришёл", после чего выбираем, чтобы нам позвонил робот:

Звонки отлично принимаются, поэтому ждём звонок в приложении SafeUM. Вот так выглядит окно входящего звонка в приложении, принимаем вызов, нам диктуют код:

Это мое описание из соответствующей темы.
«частично приватный» — по большей части именно из-за закрытого кода, ведь по заявлениям разработчиков приватные ключи шифрования должны храниться локально, но как в реальности дела обстоят ведь сложно проверить.
Если знаете лучше термин — предлагайте.

1. запутанный интерфейс (контакты, сообщения, звонки, шифрованные/не шифрованные). Пытались изобрести колесо сделать на никого не похожей
2. тянет телефонную книгу (+ можно запретить), для определения ваших контактов в своей сети (- анонимность).
3. Непонятное описание подписки, в чем отличие шифрования в стандартной и дополнительного в нестандартной.
4. Стоимость звонков на телефонные сети не входят в стоимость подписки.
5. Возможно сделать скриншот переписки (Signal например не дает такого)
6. Если использовать экстренный ПИН то учетная запись, история переписки, счет должны удалятся (так говорится в предупреждении при активации экстренного ПИНа). По факту, при попытке зарегистрироваться под тем же ником или на тот же номер телефона, получаем сообщение «Учетная запись заблокирована». Т.е. если Вы захотите зарегистрироваться под тем же ником или на тот же номер своей SIM-карты, у Вас не получится. Выхода два: зарегистрироваться под другим НИКом или покупать другую SIM-карту. Тех. поддержка этот факт подтвердила. А здесь возникает вопрос о хранении Ваших учетных записей, истории переписки и звонков, на серверах SafeUM, а это минус приватность и минус анонимность.
   Остальные мессенджеры, претендуют пока только на звание «Приватных»

Спасибо за исследование и за отчет.

Особенно важными лично мне показались последствия удаления аккаунта.
Скриншоты — тоже, но тут, скорее, надо следить, чтобы их в принципе ничто не воровало, не только из этого приложения.

В интерфейсе лично мне не понравилась то, что на моем аппарате пришлось для сабжа DPI почти в два раза уменьшить. Остальное, имхо, не неудобства, а своеобразие)).

Доступ к контактам здесь для возможного удобства. Без него тоже отлично работает.

Сколько людей — столько мнений. И это хорошо).

Мне, как просто юзеру, интерфейс показался как раз удобным. Что не шибко похож на звонилку-писалку, да еще и желтый)) — для меня плюс, я его ни с чем не путаю.

Возможность скринов и копирования текста на девайсе собеседника. Ну, я и не буду шушукаццо о всяком-таком с человеком, от которого инфа улететь может (хоть по умыслу, хоть по недомыслию). Тут дело даже не в технической стороне. Другое дело — что-то кому-то сказать с намерением потом отказаться — это да, сабж не подходит.

Вобщем, каждый нуждается в своем, определенном уровне защиты. Кому-то вполне хватает того, что предоставляют самые распространенные мессенджеры. А кто-то вообще платит кому-то за что-то эксклюзивное, никому, кроме производителя и заказчика не доступное.

SafeUM где-то между двумя этими категориями. Хорошо, что мы как-то пытаемся уточнить, где именно «между».

Да, насколько быстро звонок проходит. У товарища Lumia, а сам он в другой стране. Связался с ним по Скыпу, дал ссылку на SafeUM и свой ник. Выгрузил Скып, запустил сабж, подключился, сразу же от него вызов. Сбросил, вызвал его — сразу ответ. Сбросил, он перезвонил. Все очень быстро, у меня GSM медленнее связывается. Голосовая связь отличная, возможно, сказывается удачное совмещение шифрования и сжатия. Вот авторизация у меня ДОЛГО идет, а у этого товарища быстро. Мы так и не определились, дело в стране, или в Lumia).

Such features as file transfer, history disabling and the number of messages displayed on the chat screen are available in encrypted group chats. Messages and files are delivered to online and offline contacts. If one of the participants of the encrypted group chat changes the encryption keys, other participants will get the notification about it.

Rest assured in total confidentiality of your messaging and conversations. We use modern cryptographic/data encryption algorithms never implemented in any other public product before. You generate secret encryption keys for confidential communication. They are only stored in the device RAM and are deleted during shutdown/reset. The ElGamal Elliptic Curve Cryptosystem eliminates the possibility of your data to be decrypted.

Security keys verification by QR code scanning allows you to check the authenticity of the interlocutor and his keys. This additional security measure excludes MITM-attack. Scan QR code to verify the key. The service is available in offline mode.
