Download and Install Havoc OS Pie ROM On Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite (GSI) | Android 9.0 : As the name suggests, Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite is the smaller variant (in specs) of the Xiaomi Mi A2. The Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite comes equipped with a large 5.84 inches FHD+ screen. The display resolution is 1080×2280 pixels. The Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite is powered by Snapdragon 625 coupled with 3GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage which can be expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card.
It houses a 4000 mAh battery. It sports a 12 MP front and a 5 MP back camera. The device runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and its an Android One device which means the device will get software support from Google. The device comes with a notch display whereas the Xiaomi Mi A2 has a simple display.
Another Android 9.0 Pie based GSI ROM made available for project trebled devices. The ROM is called Havoc OS. The current Version is Havoc V2 GSI 20181027. The new update added many important features like more network modes support to LTE tile, a One-handed mode in button actions, option to select Default GPU renderer, Battery percent on lock screen and many more.
Now, the Android 9.0 Pie version can be installed on the smartphone via the Havoc OS ROM which is a custom ROM that is very close to stock and it is based on AOSP. Предварительно требования

Загрузки

Havoc-OS 3.2 (Android 10): Xiaomi Mi Mix Guide + Review: Part 1: Installation Guide
LineageOS has been one of the forefathers of custom ROM development. For a couple of years now, my personal phone is running the latest build of LineageOS. Recently however, my own device have been experiencing weird bugs which perpetually scratches my head to reformat the phone and start all over again. I accepted this fate but if I were to start over again, I should at least give other custom ROMs a try.
I looked up in the XDA portal and saw two ROMs getting frequent updates from the same maintainer Inkypen, Pixel Experience and Havoc-OS. Since I do not like how Pixel Experience offers very few customization (even fewer than LineageOS), I decided to take and install Havoc-OS.
Here is my experience, observations, and my review of Havoc-OS after using it for a couple of months now. This will be a 4-part series so stay tuned for future posts.

What is Havoc-OS?
Havoc-OS 3.2 (Android 10)Havoc-OS is a custom ROM offering wide variety of customization for every phone supported. Coming from the custom ROM scene myself since I bought my first Android phone, Havoc-OS feels like Resurrection Remix revived. It has all the customization that you can ask for a phone and it has a very fast release schedule thanks to the active developers (skulshady and zenixxx) who maintains the project.
What is a custom ROM?
In layman’s term, a custom ROM is a customized software that you put in your phone to increase your phone’s functionality. It is a customized Android system that enables wide range of customization and optimizations depending on the custom ROM developers. A custom ROM also allows people to use a phone to get official security and Android version upgrades even past its official manufacturer support.
One of the biggest custom ROM projects is LineageOS.
Installation Guide
The installation guide is divided into two sections namely the “Simple Guide” and the “Long Guide”. Both points to the same things but the simple guide summarizes things. If you have been flashing ROMs for a quite some time now, the simple guide will be enough for you.
Simplest Guide
In its simplest form, all you need to do is download the following and flash them one-by-one in TWRP / OrangeFox:

After flashing all of that, you can reboot your phone and you will have HavocOS installed in your Mi Mix.
However, if you are here to get the detailed guide, don’t worry. I got it covered. I will be coming from LineageOS so I won’t be doing the following pre-requisites:
- Unlocking bootloader
- Installing TWRP / OrangeFox
- Formatting internal storage (to remove encryption)
The Long Guide
Initiate the backup
Before changing anything else, we must first get our backup up and running. Make sure that you have a full backup of your device just in case of problems. Head over TWRP / OrangeFox and backup all partitions to get started and don’t be like me who learned this the hard way.
Having a backup is a great way to just rollback from your previous state instead of losing every bit of data and configurations that you have. Trust me, its worth the storage space.
Wipe previous OS installation and Android data and apps
Before installing Havoc-OS, it is always wise to perform a wipe. For me, a wipe comes in two forms:
- Wiping OS, Data, Cache and Dalvik
- Wiping any remaining Android data and configuration found in the internal storage or SD cards of your phone
Wiping OS, Data, Cache and Dalvik
Wiping Dalvik, Cache, System, Data via OrangeFoxIn this first type, we are going to wipe the operating system (OS) and some of its bits and pieces – System, Data, Dalvik and Cache. This is the standard wipe commonly found in most of the guides out there before installing or moving to a new custom ROM. To do this, head to TWRP / OrangeFox and select Wipe and check the items you want to wipe.
Wiping any remaining Android data and configuration
The second type refers the bits and pieces from the remaining Android application installation. Most of the guides in the internet do not mention this part but I always do this to avoid application errors specially when moving from one Android iteration to next.
OrangeFox showing other folders in the internal storageThese remaining application data are files and folders created by application installs that are located in your internal or external storage. For example, Spotify saves its offline songs in a folder inside the Android folder in the internal storage. The same is true for Mobile Legends, Asphalt 8, Facebook and other applications and games.
By default applications should only be dropping files in that Android folder, however most of the time apps create their own folders outside this Android folder, leaving the internal storage a mess. Apps such as Facebook and others are some of the culprits of this messy internal storage.
So how do you clean up all of this? By default you have to delete the Android folder and other additional folders using TWRP / OrangeFox. Just head to advanced, and file manager. Navigate to sdcard folder and delete the Android folder and other related folders that you think are created by other applications. An alternative is to connect your phone to the computer via USB cable while in TWRP / OrangeFox and use the file manager of the PC to delete the folders.
Hopefully after doing all of this, we have a clean device ready for Havoc-OS installation.
Install HavocOS + GApps + additional packages
Havoc-OS install via OrangeFoxAt this point we should have a clean workable phone fresh for flashing Havoc-OS. To install, head to TWRP / OrangeFox, click Install then find the Havoc-OS flashable zip file and add to the queue other packages you want to install such as GApps (Google Apps) or the Magisk root. You can flash them one by one or you can queue them up so that the next package will install automatically after the other.
Note that you need to install Havoc-OS first before installing GApps and Magisk root. Always remember that the OS comes first before any other add-ons. Also note that you don’t have to reboot to TWRP / OrangeFox after flashing each item. You can just reboot after everything is already installed.
After successfully installing Havoc-OS and all additional packages, you can now select reboot to System in TWRP / OrangeFox to reboot to your new and shiny OS. Don’t worry, we already did a wipe before its installation so there is no need to click Wipe Dalvik and Cache button. However, if you are doing an update or a dirty flash, do click the Wipe Dalvik and Cache button (more on this in future posts).
It will take around 15-30 minutes to finish the initial reboot but after that, the next reboot will be a whole lot faster.
Warning
You should use and install the Open GApps Nano packages or else you might encounter errors when using Havoc-OS for the first time.
I personally used the Open GApps Pico and but I went to multiple flashing / bootloops / and wiping again just to make it work. Not really recommended.
